I'm a doctoral candidate in Cultural Anthropology. I also study philosophy. I have a great interest in comparative philosophy and conceptual history. I teach, and read alot. I'm a big ol' bookworm. I would like to start painting again. I love to garden and ride my bike when I get the chance (when I have a bike and a garden…). I've been living in Nyc for the past 8 years. I'm back on the west coast doing research and I'm psyched to be out of the city (finally!) I'm pretty sure that my future will entail some commitment to rural alternatives to urban development (under a capitalist model), and urban models for sustainable production.

I meditate and study and take serioulsy the monastic and renunciative traditions which inform its practice.

I am a bit of a hermit, but I have a small circle of close friends I keep in touch with and depend upon. In general, would like to meet people for friendship and conviviality. I would like to meet people 1. I can learn new things from.  2. Who appreciate intimacy and are happy to embrace it.  3.  People who believe communalism need not be shed at the door of the wedding chapel or the singles club. 4. People who are interested in alternatives to industrial colonialism.
